The 47th India Carpet Expo wrapped up with a remarkable turnout, attracting over 235 international buyers from 38 countries and 255 buying representatives. Organized by the Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC), the expo highlighted India’s rich handmade carpet tradition and facilitated significant business interactions over four days.

Inauguration Ceremony and Industry Support

Union Minister of Textiles Shri Giriraj Singh inaugurated the expo on October 15, emphasizing the textile sector’s role in employment generation. Joined by state officials and industry leaders, Singh advocated for new fiber-blend developments and local spinning mills to bolster the industry’s sustainability and employment impact.

Show Highlights: Craftsmanship and Social Impact

Live carpet weaving demos and prison-made carpets from Gyanpur jail, featured at the CEPC Theme Pavilion, captivated foreign buyers, underscoring the artisanship and social initiatives in Bhadohi’s carpet-making industry.

Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of Labor and Employment, Mr. Anil Rajbhar, visited the event, emphasizing the industry’s economic significance and employment opportunities, especially for rural artisans and women.

Record Business and Future Prospects

The expo saw substantial export orders and is expected to generate Rs 450-500 crore in business. CEPC Chairman Kuldeep Raj Wattal praised the strong international response, underscoring the expo’s role in promoting India’s handmade carpet sector globally. He acknowledged the significant support from the Government of Uttar Pradesh and local officials.

Upcoming Initiatives and Bharat Tex 2025 Roadshow

A roadshow for Bharat Tex 2025, presented by the Ministry of Textiles, invited exhibitors to join the world’s largest textile show in New Delhi next February. The announcement created anticipation for expanded industry engagement.
