David Armitage, the esteemed Chairman of Sellers International, leaves behind a remarkable legacy at Sellers Textile Engineers following his passing at the age of 80 in Yorkshire, England, on April 6th.

Armitage’s journey with Sellers began in 1969, culminating in his acquisition of the company in 1984. Under his leadership, Sellers soared to new heights, with the Sellers Horizon shearing machine gaining global acclaim, particularly in the United States.

In a pivotal move alongside his son Charlie, Armitage orchestrated the buyback and restructuring of the company five years ago, leading to the establishment of Sellers Textile Engineers, headquartered in Huddersfield, England.

Throughout his tenure, Armitage’s commitment to excellence and innovation propelled Sellers to the forefront of the industry. With over 900 carpet finishing machinery installations in more than 60 countries, Sellers remains a market leader, renowned for its expert product knowledge, design flexibility, and quality engineering.

Armitage’s impact extended beyond the realm of business. His tireless dedication to charity work and support for youth sports and music in the Huddersfield area earned him recognition from Her Majesty the Queen, who honored him with an OBE in 2013.
