Design Within Reach Unveils New Collection of Moroccan-Made Rugs by Beni

Design Within Reach (DWR) has introduced a new collection of Moroccan-made rugs in partnership with Beni, a renowned global rug brand. The collection features four exclusive designs—Brick, Borderline, Backgammon, and Fences—crafted in Beni’s newly launched low-pile style, characterized by a shorter knotted weave.

Handcrafted in Morocco using 100% live wool, which is humanely sheared from living sheep, these rugs draw on traditional Moroccan designs while embracing a modern aesthetic. The collection’s saturated color palette and geometric patterns, combined with varying pile lengths, create unique irregularities, making each rug one-of-a-kind.

DWR was drawn to Beni for its innovative approach to craft and its ethical practices within the weaving industry. Founded in Marrakesh in 2018 by Robert Wright and Tiberio Lobo-Navia, Beni has redefined the Moroccan rug industry by professionalizing the art of weaving and offering fair compensation—two to three times the national average—to its weavers.

Beni sources wool from a third-generation family company in the Atlas Mountains. At their Tameslouht workshop, expert weavers craft the wool into soft, durable rugs that showcase the quality of their materials and artistry.

While custom weaving a single 8’ x 10’ rug typically takes up to 12 weeks, the partnership with DWR now allows for in-stock availability with shorter lead times. The collection is offered in five sizes, ranging from a 2.5’ x 9’ runner to a 10’ x 14’ rectangular rug, with prices from $1,295 to $7,995.
