Shaw Industries Group, Inc. has announced that Chief Sustainability & Innovation Officer Kellie Ballew has been recognized with the 2024 IWBI Trailblazer Award by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI). This prestigious honor celebrates individuals who drive innovation and progress in the WELL movement, prioritizing health and well-being in the built environment.
Recognizing Leadership in Sustainable Innovation
The IWBI Trailblazer Award is part of the institute’s annual Community Awards, which highlight leaders committed to advancing people-first places that enhance occupant health and wellness. IWBI President and CEO Rachel Hodgdon praised this year’s honorees for their contributions, stating:

EcoWorx Carpet Tile: She was instrumental in developing Shaw’s EcoWorx carpet tile, the first PVC-free and fully recyclable carpet tile, which became the first Cradle to Cradle Certified® carpet tile. Today, nearly 90% of Shaw’s products are Cradle to Cradle Certified.
Works with WELL Certification: Shaw became the first flooring company to receive the Works with WELL product license for its EcoWorx carpet tile, aligning with health strategies in the WELL Building Standard.
EcoWorx Resilient: In 2024, Ballew led the launch of EcoWorx Resilient, a PVC-free, fully recyclable, and low embodied carbon flooring solution, setting a new benchmark for sustainability.
