Brintons Unveils Studio Play Carpet Collection for High-Traffic Commercial Interiors

British carpet manufacturer Brintons has introduced Studio Play, a new commercial carpet collection that combines artistic creativity with the durability required for demanding hospitality, retail, and corporate environments.

Developed through a series of internal creative workshops, the collection brings an artisan-inspired design approach to specification-grade flooring, offering designers a fresh option for projects where both aesthetics and performance are essential.

Creativity Without Constraints

The Studio Play concept emerged from a desire to encourage experimentation within Brintons’ design team. Rather than beginning with a traditional design brief, the company created a series of workshops that allowed designers to explore materials, techniques, and creative processes freely.

According to Jodie Hatton, Design Manager at Brintons, the initiative gave the team an opportunity to step away from conventional project constraints and embrace a more instinctive design process.

The result is a collection characterized by expressive patterns, layered textures, and a strong sense of movement, translating artistic exploration into commercially viable flooring solutions.

Series One Inspired by Acrylic Ink Techniques

The first chapter of the collection, Series One, was developed through experimentation with fluid acrylic inks.

Designers were encouraged to create without predefined objectives, allowing them to explore layering, blending, and spontaneous mark-making techniques. This open-ended approach generated a diverse range of visual effects, resulting in designs rich in depth, atmosphere, and artistic character.

The collection reflects the organic movement and unpredictability of ink-based artwork while maintaining the precision required for commercial carpet production.

Future Series to Explore New Creative Processes

Brintons has confirmed that Studio Play will continue as an ongoing design initiative.
The next phase, scheduled for autumn 2026, will focus on Gelli printing, a technique known for its textured surfaces, layered imagery, and experimental outcomes.

The company says future editions will continue to follow the same philosophy: encouraging creative exploration before translating ideas into commercial flooring designs.

Designed for Commercial Performance

While Studio Play embraces artistic expression, it has been engineered specifically for high-traffic contract applications.

The collection is manufactured using an 80 percent wool and 20 percent nylon yarn blend, a combination that provides excellent durability, resilience, stain resistance, and long-term performance.

This construction makes the collection suitable for hospitality venues, hotels, corporate offices, retail environments, and other commercial spaces where flooring must withstand heavy use while maintaining its appearance.

Combining heritage craftsmanship with contemporary design influences, Studio Play offers architects and interior designers a unique flooring solution that delivers both visual impact and commercial reliability.

Series One of the Studio Play collection is now available through Brintons’ international network of dealers and design professionals.
