FLOR® Expands Carbon Negative Rug Collection with New Terra Nova Style

FLOR®, the premium area rug brand by Interface®, has unveiled its latest innovation in sustainable flooring: Terra Nova, a carbon negative area rug that stores more carbon than is released during its production. This new style reinforces FLOR’s long-term commitment to design-forward sustainability and supports its mission to become fully carbon negative by 2040.

Terra Nova is the newest addition to FLOR’s carbon negative portfolio, which debuted in 2022 as the first of its kind in the industry. The rug is crafted using innovative materials and processes that turn carbon from a climate problem into a climate solution.

“Sustainability is at the core of everything we do,” said James Pope, General Manager of FLOR. “When customers choose our carbon negative rugs, they are investing in a future with less carbon in the atmosphere and more stored in the products they use every day.”

Design Meets Responsibility

Inspired by traditional handwoven textiles, Terra Nova is available in two earth-toned colorways: Dune and Topaz. The design brings a contemporary edge to artisanal aesthetics and fits seamlessly in both residential and commercial interiors. Like all FLOR products, it offers modular flexibility, durability, and eco-conscious materials without compromising style.

“Terra Nova reflects today’s design trends centered on craftsmanship and sustainability,” noted Kelly Simcox, Head of Global Design at Interface. “It’s a beautiful, versatile rug that resonates with eco-conscious designers and homeowners alike.”

Leading the Way to a Low-Carbon Future

FLOR’s carbon strategy follows a three-pronged approach: avoid, reduce, and store. Since launching in 2003, the company has consistently prioritized reducing the carbon footprint of its products. With the success of its carbon negative collection, FLOR has already sold over 39,000 carbon negative tiles, helping customers avoid emissions equivalent to not charging over 710,000 smartphones or preserving nine acres of forest.

As FLOR continues to push boundaries in eco-innovation, Terra Nova marks another milestone in its vision of sustainable luxury. For those looking to blend style with environmental impact, this rug offers a future-forward flooring solution that’s as conscious as it is beautiful.
