Swedish rug brand LAYERED, in collaboration with Stockholm-based design studio Massproductions, has introduced the Cord Collection, a new series of handwoven rugs that explores the relationship between traditional craftsmanship and industrial design. The collection debuted during 3daysofdesign 2026, highlighting weaving not only as a manufacturing technique but also as a visual language.
Designed to celebrate the structural logic of woven textiles, the Cord Collection reflects growing interest in handcrafted floor coverings that combine contemporary aesthetics with timeless textile traditions.
A Contemporary Interpretation of Traditional Weaving
The new collection consists of four handwoven rug designs that place the weaving process itself at the center of the design concept.
Rather than concealing the construction, Massproductions sought to emphasize the intersecting warp and weft structure through bold linear elements layered across neutral woven bases. The result is a collection that creates both visual depth and tactile dimension while remaining rooted in traditional weaving techniques.
According to the designers, the project bridges the precision of industrial manufacturing with the subtle irregularities that make handcrafted textiles unique.

Inspired by the Logic of Textile Construction
Massproductions is known for translating industrial manufacturing principles into contemporary product design, and the Cord Collection continues this philosophy.
The rugs were developed around the fundamental mechanics of weaving, demonstrating how the arrangement of textile fibers can become an expressive design element rather than simply a production method.
The collection was presented during 3daysofdesign within an installation featuring large rotating columns wrapped with loose textile cords, illustrating both the flexibility and durability of woven structures.
Four Contemporary Colorways
The Cord Collection is available in four distinctive color combinations:
- Black White
- Blue Brown
- Rust
- Yellow Oatmeal
Each design combines a neutral wool base with contrasting accent stripes created using coarser yarns, giving the rugs a subtle three-dimensional appearance.
“We wanted to create a dialogue between the natural and the constructed,” said Chris Martin, Co-Founder of Massproductions.
“By contrasting a base of wool in subdued, neutral shades with a bold accent color, we found a balance between the organic and the contemporary. Adding a coarser yarn to the stripe gives the weave a physical presence and a quiet dimensionality.”
