Oriental Weavers, the world’s largest woven carpet manufacturer, has taken another major step in its sustainability journey with the launch of its second solar power plant at Oriental Weavers International in 10th of Ramadan City, Egypt. The new system generates 2.6 MWp of clean energy, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
“This project takes us another step closer to a cleaner, greener future,” said Yasmine Khamis, Chair of Oriental Weavers Carpets. “We are integrating renewable energy across our operations while leading the way in sustainable industrial development.”
Khamis added that under the company’s 2025–2030 decarbonization plan, Oriental Weavers aims to install rooftop solar systems totaling 17 MW, providing around 20% of the facility’s total energy needs. The initiative aligns with Egypt’s national renewable energy goals and strengthens the company’s global sustainability leadership.
