The Istanbul Carpet Exporters’ Association (İHİB) has taken Turkish carpet artistry to the global stage with two major events in Japan, showcasing both heritage and modern design.
On September 2, during Osaka Expo 2025, the spectacular “Echoes of Legacy / Türkiye Fashion Show” highlighted the fusion of traditional Anatolian motifs with contemporary fashion. Selected works from the Koza Young Fashion Designers Contest and collections from Turkey’s leading designers were presented alongside costumes crafted from iconic Turkish carpets — a striking display of cultural legacy meeting modern creativity.
Just two days later, on September 4, a special reception in Tokyo hosted at the Turkish Embassy further emphasized Turkey’s cultural strength. The event featured the premiere screening of the documentary “Anatolian Carpet” and an exclusive exhibition of world-renowned Hereke carpets, earning admiration from Japan’s art and design circles.
According to İHİB, these events under the umbrella of the Turquality program, carried out in cooperation with İHKİB and with the support of Turkey’s Ministry of Trade, aim not only to preserve the heritage of Turkish carpet weaving but also to reintroduce it as a symbol of modern design and cultural storytelling on the world stage.
The strong interest witnessed in Japan underlines the universal appeal of Turkish carpets — proving that they are not just products of craftsmanship but powerful cultural icons with a vibrant role in the future of global fashion and interior design.
