The American rug industry has lost one of its most influential and visionary figures. John Hossein Feizy, the founder and CEO of Feizy Rugs, passed away on July 13, 2025, at the age of 83. His legacy spans over five decades of dedication to elevating the art and business of rugs, leaving an indelible mark on the industry both in the United States and worldwide.
Originally from Arak, Iran, Feizy immigrated to the United States in 1963, later completing his studies in Business Administration. In 1973, he founded Feizy Rugs in Dallas, Texas, transforming a small family-run business into one of the most recognized global names in the production and distribution of both handmade and machine-made rugs.
John Feizy was a fourth-generation heir to a deep-rooted rug tradition. He personally traveled extensively to rug-producing countries such as India, Turkey, Afghanistan, China, and Pakistan, overseeing material sourcing, design, and production with meticulous care.
One of his groundbreaking achievements was the establishment of a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Gaziantep, Turkey in 2000, which remains the only rug factory in Turkey wholly owned by an American company.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Feizy was remembered by colleagues and friends as a compassionate and philanthropic leader. He often emphasized that his greatest achievement was creating sustainable employment opportunities and supporting hundreds of families across global weaving communities.
Feizy Rugs is now under the leadership of his children, Leah and Cameron, who continue to uphold the company’s commitment to innovation and luxury craftsmanship.
According to the family, a private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the Feizy family has requested that donations be made to Feed My Starving Children or Designers for Dogs, two charitable organizations John Feizy passionately supported.
